SILVER MOUNTAIN MUSIC

Silver Mountain Music
Inspired by the silvery glow of the Langeberg, Silver Mountain Music is a celebration of music and nature in the Grootvadersbosch Valley. The natural beauty of the area is coupled with a rich cultural heritage and genuine rural hospitality. We are proud to launch the second year of this festival with a fabulous programme. The festival is organized with the support and contribution from several local entities.

Silver Mountain Music will begin on Thursday 15th June with a lively evening of music in the spectacular Schoone Oordt Country House in Swellendam. The programme, lead by Samson Diamond, includes String Trios by Beethoven and Kodaly. Friday will include youth day celebrations in Heidelberg with bike rides and a music workshop. An evening concert of legends will include a nature talk on migratory birds and other wonders, followed by a cinema extravaganza for Violin and Piano, with Richard Cock, performed by Samson Diamond and Grethe Nöthling at Strawberry Hill.

Saturday features a fabulous percussion concert with Magda de Vries at Honeywood Farm, including a talk on coffee and the wonder of bees. The afternoon concert is a magical experience in a farm shed in the mountains with Richard Cock and the Cape Town orchestra. The concert will feature South African stars, such as Nicholas Nicolaidis (Tenor) and Magda de Vries (Marimba). The Programme includes songs made famous by Frank Sinatra, as well as favourite instrumental music by Vivaldi and some surprises.
Rooiberg wine and Saggy Stone Beer will be available for tasting and sale.

The final concert, on Sunday, will be a massed choir and orchestra concert in Heidelberg.
In addition to multiple concerts, the weekend includes activities that showcase local cuisine and natural attractions including, a guided dairy tour, milk tasting, bee tour, guided forest walks, coffee, beer and wine tasting. The Grootvadersbosch Conservancy is also home to 120km of mountain bike trails which can be enjoyed across all the guest houses. More information here.
