JONGELING

(Gedig Deur Bernard Fielies)

Jongman, sonder skaamte en ongemanierd;
Jou reis is rampspoedig en jou nommer tot niet;
in jou “gangster”-gange word net trane gegiet…
Jongdame, jy wat jou liggaam so verkoop;

C.A.R.S (COMMUNITY ANIMAL RESCUE SOCIETY)

Our presence at the show was to raise public awareness of the work that we do in Riversdale and to raise funds to support our work. C.A.R.S aims are to improve the life of animals in poorer communities by holding regular dip days , and sterilisation and vaccination clinics. We also advise on basic animal care and rehome unwanted , abandoned and abused animals.
During the show we ran a raffle with a R500 Spar voucher as a prize. The winners of the raffle were Craig and Lyn Berger of Riversdale. They have generously decided to hand the voucher back to C.A.R.S for further fund raising efforts. Thank you Craig and Lyn.
Thank you too to Andre van Wyk of Riversdale Spar for donating R200 towards the cost of the voucher.

NATIONAL SEA RESCUE

The National Sea Rescue Institute is manned by over 1 000 volunteers at 31 bases around the coast and on 4 inland dams.
The NSRI’s mission is to save lives on South African waters.
In order to achieve our mission we need unpaid volunteers that can be trained as shore and sea crew to man our rescue vessels.
In order for a volunteer to qualify as sea crew to be able to go on a rescue vessel during a rescue operation a new volunteer must first complete a training program.

The program involves 30 hours as a trainee crew member on a rescue vessel normally achieved over the first year of joining.
Theoretical and practical instruction together with Level 3 First Aid Training is done on base and must be completed and competence proofed for the trainee crew member to qualify.
Caila Christie and Martin Fourie completed the training program recently and both qualified as Sea Crew.

People interested in becoming a volunteer at NSRI Witsand are welcome to contact us directly on 0829905957.
Sea Rescue is the charity that saves lives on South African waters.
